Combine Victoria's maiden name with the workroom where she creates her cakes, jams & chutneys and you have her trading name: "The Parish Kitchen".
Victoria will bake cakes to order (iced or decorated as required) for special
occasions such as birthday parties and weddings. The ingredients used for her
Victoria sponges include eggs from her free range chicken or ducks and of course
her own home-made jam.
She is adept at putting local fruit to use. The hedgerows, gardens and greenhouses of the Isle of Purbeck yield the copious apples, sloes, blackcurrants, crab apples, raspberries, plums, tomatoes, damsons, raspberries, strawberries and other fruit which find their way into her jams and chutneys.
With her husband Justin, Victoria also breeds free range pigs - on a very small
scale - from their three hardy Duroc sows and Percy, a White Lop boar, member
of one of Britain's rarest pig breeds.
"Purbeck Pigs", their hog-roast
business, offers a choice of two services.
Option 1: delivery and setting up of a hog-roaster, supply of gas to
fuel it, and a pig with essential accompaniments (Victoria's
home-made apple sauce, stuffing and rolls).
Option 2: As Option 1 plus all-day attendance on site to roast and carve the pig.
Purbeck Pigs operates within a 40-mile radius of Wareham. Contact them for further details.
