Dorset Food Week, Celebrities Welcome
It must be hard being a celebrity. Everyone expects you to be interested in them, no matter how much you want to have time to yourself.
I once met Marco Pierre White, did you know I don't think he wears socks, he visibly climbed into his meet the public persona and relaxed into something slightly different at the end of the engagement.
Well, last weekend, there was a celebrity chef enjoying the sand on
Studland Beach. To be honest, he was struggling for quite some time with a
deck-chair in quite a stiff north easterly breeze. Later he was observed
entering the ladies toilets and leaving them. I approached him and said I
would not write about him if he came to chat with the Purbeck Products
stallholders, who were there as part of the National Trust's engagement
with local food producers.
Do you know, he missed a trick there.
By not coming and meeting the local producers, he did not learn about Claire
Head's fantastic organic chicken and eggs. Nor did he learn that we produce
rose veal in Lytchett, he didn't get a chance to sample Carl and Mandy's divine
venison burgers or sink his fangs into Louise Prince's lemon drizzle cake. Yum!
But Purbeck residents don't need to miss out; there are two Purbeck Products markets in October. The first is on Saturday the 10th at Putlake Farm, in Langton Matravers. The second is on Saturday the 24th at Swanage Middle School, as part of Dorset Food Week. All are welcome, celebrity or not, if you want to know more about Purbeck Products then you can find them on this website.
The name of the chef..... no! He is allowed his own quiet time with his children, but I might whisper it to you, if you buy enough beef from my stall.
